The Haiti Property Law Working group is publishing a series of manuals that can help you navigate the complex Haitian legal system with regards to land, whether you are an NGO, a business, or an individual.

The first manual focuses on buying and selling land according to the formal Haitian bureaucracy. Though it can guide you through the process, it is no replacement for hiring a lawyer, a “notaire” or notary, and an “arpenteur” or surveyor. These legal professionals are the best placed to help you with the specifics of your situation. What the manual will do it help you estimate how long this process will take, how much it might cost, and what possible pitfalls to expect.

The second manual is currently being researched and debated. For more details on our process for developing these manuals, please return to our home page.
